SR 2023 General Information
European Summer Residential Gestalt Therapy Training Workshop: July 16-28, 2023
ELIGIBILITY: The training programs are open to psychotherapists and qualified counsellors and to those in advanced levels of training to become therapists. Allied professionals (e.g. Clergy, Nurses, Educators, Physicians, Organizational Consultants, etc.) may apply. All qualified professionals are welcome without regard to race, sex, ethnic origin, religion, age, or sexual orientation.
GUIDING PRINCIPLES FOR ENGAGEMENT IN SR 2023: We ask all registrants to check these principles and ensure they can abide by them before applying:
In seeking to preserve and evolve the learning, connecting and healing opportunities afforded to so many in the Gestalt community by the GATLA Summer Residential program, we are committed to the following:
Engaging with each other in a genuine I-Thou dialogue which means
- Showing up with full respect for ourselves and the other as individuals
- Seeing each other as whole, autonomous, responsible and responsive individuals who engage on our own terms
- Honouring our own lived experience of each other
- Allowing ourselves to lean into the experience of being the other and allowing them to do the same with us without overwhelming or being overwhelmed
- Rejoicing in our commonalities and our differences at a personal level
In this approach there is no place for “othering” … seeing others not as they are in their own right but as representatives of something else which is alien and objectionable.
Indeed, steadfastly relating in this way is the strongest antidote to ideological or nationalistic conflict such as we see today (and have endured in the past).
We seek to engage with those who are able to commit to this approach, respecting that not everyone will choose to.
Considering the current situation, we express our full support to our colleagues from Ukraine and to all who feel threatened by this war.
We categorically condemn Russian aggression against Ukraine.
We also support all people from Russia who are against this war and share our stance and our point of view. We want you to remain our colleagues and welcome you as participants of Summer residential.
We reaffirm that the primary focus of the SR is on the provision of the highest quality education and hands-on, live experiential training in Gestalt Therapy.
We welcome all and only those participants who honour these principles and who engage with curiosity, compassion, courage, and a wholehearted commitment to connection.
COVID REQUIREMENTS: You Must be Fully Vaccinated to attend the 2023 Summer European Residential Training Program. You must show proof of vaccination prior to registration, and you must wear a mask if so requested.
TRANSPORTATION: There are numerous airlines that fly into Cyprus. The two major airports are Larnaca and Paphos. There are non-stop flights from a number gateway European Cities so if you are flying from another Continent, go to a gateway city that services Cyprus and take a second flight from there. Both Ryanair and Wizz Air have cheap flights to Cyprus from numerous cities.
From the airport you can:
- Take a taxi to the Ajax Hotel Limassol – approximately 45 minutes from Larnaca and 50 minutes from Paphos at cost of approximately 50Euro.
- Catch the Limassol Airport Express bus for 10Euro.

If you are flying from the USA or Australia via a gateway city, be sure to check airports as your international flights may arrive at one airport and the flight to Cyprus may depart from another. If you are traveling from another continent, please arrive in Europe a few days before our program begins to start getting over jetlag.
COSTS: If you are wiring money to the GATLA bank account, please be sure to include all bank costs – yours and GATLA’s. There is no fee increase in 2023. All fees include tuition, twin accommodation with private bath, all meals and coffee breaks – including the “free” days.

All payments must be made in U.S. dollars by check, international money order, or direct deposit into GATLA’s Bank Account. If paying by direct deposit, please be sure to pay ALL fees for both the sending and receiving bank. If paying by check submit a cashiers check (not draft) from an international bank in U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. bank. Make Check payable to: GATLA. Alternatively, fees may be paid by credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or PayPal) by mail or securely online BY CLICKING HERE.
CANCELATIONS: Requests must be made in writing. A $100.00 per person processing fee will be deducted from every refund. A full refund will be made for requests received by May 1, 2023. A 50 % refund (of the full fee) will be granted for requests received between May 1 and June 1, 2023. No refunds will be issued for requests received after June 1, 2022. Applications are not complete without a deposit prior to June 1 and applications after June 1 must be accompanied by the full fee.
In case of cancellation of the workshop by the organizers, the payment will be fully refunded.
DISCOUNTS & CONDITIONS:
- Groups of five or more participants registering (including deposits) at the same time for the program must register in the following manner:
One person in the group must take responsibility for emailing the names the 5 or more persons to info@gatla.org. He/she/they must make sure all registration forms and deposits (or full fees) are submitted and paid at the same time. Once the 5 registrations (including deposits) have been received, other participants MAY NOT join an existing group. If a participant drops out of a group making it less than 5, the early registration discount will be forfeited by all unless a substitute (a new participant — not yet registered) is provided in a timely manner. These discounts, different from other years, apply only for early registration.
- For any registration after May 1, 2023, full payment must accompany registration unless other arrangements are requested and agreed upon.
- Registration Deadlines: New participants: June 1, 2023
Returning participants: June 30, 2023.
*Discounts may not be combined. In the event an applicant qualifies for more than one discount, he/she will receive the highest one only.
CREDIT: GATLA is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. GATLA maintains responsibility for these programs and their content. These courses meet the qualifications for 63 hours (Gestalt 12 day program) of continuing education credit for Psychologists. GATLA’s training program content builds upon doctoral level training and draws upon generally accepted psychological theory, research based psychological concepts, and clinical outcome studies.
GATLA provides CE credits for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs, and LCSWs as required by California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
